FAQ
The questions we are asked before the first call.
If yours is not here, ask it — the answer usually becomes one of these.
What does Evolqon actually do?
Two things. We build and licence our own software products — The Stock Room is the first, with The Class Room and Rent Madi in development. And we build software, websites and internal tools for other businesses, using the same engineering we use on our own products.
Should I licence a product or have you build something?
Licence one if a product already covers most of the job — you are live in days and you pay for software rather than a build. Commission a project when the work is genuinely particular to your business. We will tell you which we think it is on the first call, including when the honest answer is that you do not need us yet.
How is the pricing structured?
Products are licensed per business and billed monthly or yearly, with hosting, updates and support included. Project work is quoted as a fixed price against a written scope. Both are exclusive of GST, which is charged at the prevailing rate.
How do projects usually start?
With a conversation about the work you are trying to fix, not a feature list. From there we write down the smallest version that would genuinely help, with a scope, a price and a date, so you can decide with real numbers in front of you.
How long does a project take?
It depends on scope, and we will not pretend otherwise before seeing yours. What we do commit to is a date in writing before work starts, and telling you early if it is at risk rather than on the day it slips.
Do we own the code you write for us?
Yes. Client work is yours — the source, the repositories and the deployment accounts are handed over at the end of the engagement, and this is written into the agreement before work starts. We keep ownership only of our own pre-existing tools and libraries, which you get a licence to use as part of the deliverable.
Who owns the data inside a licensed product?
You do. Your customers, orders and payments are yours; we hold them on your instructions and can export them for you at any time during the licence, and for an agreed period after it ends. See the privacy policy for how that works in detail.
Can you move our existing data across?
Usually, yes. Most businesses arrive with a spreadsheet, a book, or an export from something else, and getting that in is part of setting you up rather than an extra project. Send us a sample and we will tell you honestly how clean it is.
What happens if we want to stop?
You export your data and the licence ends at the term set out in your order form. There is no project write-off hanging over the decision, which is much of the point of licensing rather than commissioning.
What happens after launch?
We stay on. Fixes, dependency upkeep, monitoring and new work as the business changes — with a named person who already knows how your system is put together, rather than a queue.
Do you only work with businesses in Bengaluru?
No. We are based in Bengaluru and are glad to meet in person when that helps, but the products are used remotely and project work runs perfectly well over calls and email.
Our trade is nothing like fashion or rentals. Is that a problem?
Not for project work — the trades we know best shaped our products, but the engineering is the same wherever it points. For the products themselves, tell us what you do: if the shape of the job is close, we will say so, and if it is not, we will say that instead of selling you a poor fit.
Still unsure? Send us the question or write to contact@evolqon.com.
